Shawn Edwards has taught step dance and choreographed dance routines for high schoolers for 4 years. He also taught step dance to elementary school kids in a program called 'Dance for Change' through the City of Aurora Youth Development Center for 2 years. He later moved into a City of Aurora elementary School and taught step dance to first and third graders for 2 years. For the past 3 years, he has taught step dance and lead line dance classes for adults over 50 years old and senior communities.
When Coach Andy Derks reached out and asked me to coach the Pitbulls last year, he says he thought he was joking. According to him he was terribly overweight and not a runner at all. He is very thankful and grateful that Derks asked because he has lost and kept off 100 lbs. He am an avid runner and can now run 10 miles. Running has changed his life!
When it comes to teaching kids new things, things they thought they could never do, it's a priceless gift that fills his bucket. He feels that with positive praise, encouragement, and education, the possibilities for accomplishments are endless.
His motto has always been to lead with love. He will continue to do so this season and the seasons to come.
Kendra Frigo started running when she was 6 years old. Her grade school had an annual fun run, and she progressed from the 1-mile, to the 5k, to the 10k. She continued to run throughout junior high and high school, both in cross-country and in track. Her best event was the 2-mile, and she was fortunate enough to be on a high school team that went to State.
In 2010, after having her 2 children (both runners!), she took up endurance athletics. Since then, she has completed 25 stand alone marathons, 3 Ironman triathlons, a 50k, and a 50-miler. Her favorite accomplishments were her 1st Ironman in Lake Placid, and her first Boston Marathon in 2018.
She always tell herself that she does not Have to run, she Gets to run. She is honored and excited to be an assistant coach for the Plainfield Pitbulls. She is enthusiastic and bring a lot of positive energy. She looks forward to instilling the love of running in the next generation of runners.
History
Carson Vittorio founded the Plainfield Pack TFCC club in 2025 to provide better service to middle school and youth track and field/cross country athletes in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. The club is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and focuses on its mission to build community, teach fundamentals, and have fun.
That mission emerged from two impulses. The first was to critique existing club sports, which focus too often on high achievement, extensive time commitment, travel, and expensive fees. Instead, we created a local community where kids could build friendships and learn the sports of track and field/cross country in a safe and fun environment.
The second impulse was to collaborate with local coaches rather than establish ownership. Plainfield Pack TFCC is not a “feeder” for any local high school. Instead, it is a collaborative partnership between Plainfield Pack TFCC, middle school, and high school coaches all working to build friendships across schools and meaningful relationships with kids.
Impact
It is our sincerest hope that our athletes continue to participate in track and field /cross country at the high school and collegiate levels. Whether the athlete is an elite performer or an enthusiastic participant, we hope that they continue to add their expertise and enthusiasm beyond the middle school and high school level.
Another aspiration is for kids from different schools to develop meaningful relationships with each other. This sport at times can be really difficult, but the friendships that are gained along the way are lifelong assets.
